Top Five Physical Activity Action Ideas!
  1. Encourage every teacher to implement Action Schools! BC Classroom Action as part of everyday classroom scheduling.
     
  2. Deliver Bounce-at-the-Bell to help students build strong bones and muscles.
     
  3. Play a CD and have students choose their favourite dance moves for an action break between lessons.
     
  4. Have older students learn chair aerobic routines to deliver in small leadership groups to younger grades.
     
  5. Develop indoor and/or outdoor activity and fitness circuits and post them in classrooms or outdoors.

Top Five Healthy Eating Action Ideas!

  1. Introduce students to new vegetables and fruit through classroom tasting and snacking activities (e.g. Crunch & SipTM ) and/or to healthy drink choices (e.g. ReThink Your Drink or Sip Smart! BC).
     
  2. Rotate the Action Schools! BC – Healthy Eating Action Packs amongst teachers to provide equal opportunities for use.
     
  3. Set classroom vegetable and fruit consumption goals with a tracking activity for a week, a month, or throughout the year.
     
  4. Invite another class to a vegetable and fruit class challenge.
     
  5. Integrate nutrition and tracking activities across the curriculum - in math, history, geography, science, and social studies.
