Healthy Eating

Healthy eating supports the social, physical, and mental well-being of students.

Providing students with opportunities to improve their food literacy - the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to choose, grow, prepare and enjoy food to support one's health, community, and the environment – can help them navigate a world of complex food choices.

Action Schools! BC healthy eating resources focus on four aspects of healthy eating and food literacy:

  • Increasing vegetable and fruit consumption
  • Making healthy drink choices
  • Limiting high sodium food and drinks
  • Developing critical thinking and media awareness
